The Contemporary English Version
Dr.
Description
Dr. Waite examines the Contemporary English Version (CEV), one of the most aggressively paraphrastic of the modern translations, and documents its departures from both the Received Text and from faithful translation principles. He demonstrates that the CEV’s extreme use of dynamic equivalence and its preference for the Critical Text result in a Bible that in many places presents a substantially different — and weaker — message than the King James Bible.
