A History of the Baptists, Volume 1: Together With Some Account of Their Principles and Practices

Description

John T. Christian’s classic history of the Baptists traces their presence from New Testament times through the centuries, documenting the continuity of Baptist principles — believer’s baptism, separation of church and state, and the authority of Scripture — in every age of church history. Christian draws on extensive primary sources to demonstrate that Baptists are not a product of the Reformation but can be traced as a separate stream of Christianity throughout history. This is an essential reference for understanding the historical roots of the Baptist faith.
