Dr. Waite presents and expounds upon Dean John William Burgon’s own warnings about the dangers of revising the King James Bible and its underlying Greek text. Burgon, who died in 1888, could see the direction the revisers were taking and issued prescient warnings about the long-term consequences of accepting the Westcott-Hort text. Waite demonstrates that the past century and a half of Bible version proliferation has vindicated Burgon’s warnings and makes the case that the church should heed them today.
